ATTICA. Athens. 132/1 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 29 mm, 16.52 g, 12 h), New Style, under the magistrates Polycharmos, Nikogenes and Dionysios. Head of Athena Parthenos to right, Head of Athena Parthenos to right, wearing a triple-crested Attic helmet, adorned with Pegasos and a long tendril on the bowl, and with four horse protomes on the visor, and a pendant earring . Rev. Α-ΘΕ /ΠΟΛΥ - XΑΡΜ / ΝΙΚΟΓ / ΔΙΟΝΥ/ΣIOΣ Owl standing facing on amphora; to left, winged kerykeion; on amphora, Ε (= 5th month); below amphora, ΠE (= contractor's initials); all within olive wreath. SNG Lockett 1936. Thompson 379a. Toned and well-centred. A few scuffs and marks, otherwise, very fine.
