ATTICA. Athens. Circa 449-404 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25 mm, 17.10 g, 8 h), c. 430s-420s. Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet with palmette and three olive leaves; countermarked with a pentagram within a circle, and a possible letter in a rectangular indent; test cuts. Rev. ΑΘΕ Owl standing right, head facing; behind, olive spray and crescent moon; test cut and uncertain countermark(s). HGC 4, 1597. Kroll 8. Countermarked a few times on both sides and with a test mark on each side, otherwise, very fine.
