KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Hemiobol (Bronze, 18 mm, 5.97 g, 10 h), struck posthumously during the reign of Philip III, Tarsos, c. 323-317. Head of Herakles in lion's skin headdress to right; before his forehead, kerykeion. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY above, kerykeion to left over club to right; below, bow in case over star. Newell, Tarsos 46. Price 3061. Of unusually fine condition and with a lovely dark patina; particularly uncommon with a symbol on the obverse. Very fine.
