ATTICA. Athens. 135/4 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 33 mm, 16.76 g, 12 h), New style, Mened..., Epigeno... and Philo... Head of Athena Parthenos to right, wearing a triple-crested Attic helmet, adorned with Pegasos and a long tendril on the bowl, and with four horse protomes on the visor, and a pendant earring . Rev. ΑΘΕ /ΜΕΝΕΔ / ΕΠΙ / ΓΕΝΟ / ΦΙΛΟ Owl standing facing on amphora; to left, Asklepios standing to left; on amphora, Γ (= 3rd month); below amphora, ΓΛ (= contractor’s initials). Thompson 349f. A well-centered example struck on a very broad flan. Obverse lightly struck from a slightly worn die, otherwise, extremely fine.
