KINGS OF MACEDON. Philip II, 359-336 BC. Didrachm (Silver, 20 mm, 7.04 g, 12 h), Pella, 342/1-337/6. Laureate head of Zeus to right. Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠ-ΠΟΥ Nude jockey, holding long palm branch in his right hand, riding horse prancing to right; below horse, horizontal thunderbolt; in exergue, Ν. Le Rider 314 (D172/R251). SNG ANS 397 (same dies). As a denomination, very rare. With an obverse of a particularly elegant and refined style, and with a finely made reverse. Some surface roughness, otherwise, about very fine.
