ISLAMIC, Anatolia & al-Jazira (Post-Seljuk). Artuqids (Mardin). Najm al-Din Alpi, AH 547-572 / AD 1152-1176. Dirhem (Bronze, 30 mm, 10.88 g, 6 h), Unlisted mint, possibly Mardin, undated, but ca. AH 560-566 (1164-1170 AD). Two diademed and draped male heads facing slightly away from one another; Kalima above and below, name and title of Abbasid caliph to right and left. Rev. Facing female head, wearing necklace; around, arabic inscription stating the name, title, and ancestors of Najm al-Din Alpi. Album 1827.5. S&S Type 30.1. Brown-green glossy patina; well centered example. Nearly very fine.
