CRUSADERS. Edessa. Baldwin I, 1098-1100. Follis (Bronze, 25 mm, 6.84 g, 11 h). IC -XC Nimbate and draped bust of Christ facing, with two pellets on the cross nimbus, raising his right hand in benediction and holding book of Gospels. Rev. B-Λ/Δ-N Latin cross on two steps, with globe at the end of each arm and with a crosslet at the center. CCS 1b. Metcalf, p. 33, Class 1 var. Schlumberger pl. I, 5 corr. Wäckerlin 161. Extremely rare, clear, with a dark green patina overlaid by earthen highlights. Partially struck flat, otherwise, very fine.
