LUCANIA. Velia. Circa 340-334 BC. Didrachm or nomos (Silver, 23 mm, 7.50 g, 3 h), from the "Θ" group. Head of Athena to left, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with griffin; behind neck, Θ. Rev. YEΛHTΩN Lion walking to right; below, Θ. HN III 1287. SNG Oxford 1223 (same dies). Williams 291 (O162/R225). Toned and attractive. Die break above griffin's wing, and minor scratch on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
