LUCANIA. Metapontum. Circa 330-290 BC. Didrachm or nomos (Silver, 21.5 mm, 7.88 g, 11 h). Head of Demeter to left, wearing grain wreath, triple-pendant earring and pearl necklace; below chin, ΔΩPI. Rev. ΜΕΤΑ Ear of barley with leaf to left; above leaf, rake; below leaf, ΑΔ. HN III 1582. Johnston Class C, 5.4 (same dies). SNG ANS 452. An elegant coin, well struck in fine silver. Usual die fault on the reverse, roughness and marks, otherwise, extremely fine.
