SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Antiochos VI Dionysos, 144-142 BC. (Bronze, 17 mm, 3.49 g, 3 h), uncertain mint probably in Northern Syria. Forepart of panther to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ/ ANTIOXOY / ΕΠΙΦΑΝΟΥΣ / ΔΙΟΝΥΣΟΥ in four lines within ivy wreath with ties below. BMC 49-50. CSE 579 =SNG Spaer 1820. HGC 9, 1050. SC 2019. A very unusual and rare bronze of Antiochos VI. With bevelled edge and with an edge split from striking, otherwise, very fine.

SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Tryphon, circa 142-138 BC. (Bronze, 18.5 mm, 6.52 g, 12 h), Antioch on-the-Orontes. Diademed head of Tryphon to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΤΡΥΦΩΝΟΣ ΑΥΤΟΚΡΑΤΟΡΟΣ Ornate Macedonian helmet to left, with spike on top and with a wild goat’s horn over the visor; inner left, star. HGC 9, 1061. SC 2034.2e. Well-struck and centered; fine style; a lovely example with a glossy dark green patina. Good very fine.

ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΤΡΥΦΩΝΟΣ ΑΥΤΟΚΡΑΤΟΡΟΣ Ornate Macedonian helmet to left, with spike on top and with a wild goat’s horn over the visor; inner left, piloi of the Dioskouroi. HGC 9, 1061. SC 2034.2d. With a lovely portrait and a reddish-brown patina. Reverse very slightly off-center, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
