CYPRUS. Salamis. Euanthes, circa 450 BC. Stater (Silver, 20 mm, 11.23 g, 1 h). [𐠩𐠃𐠟 - đ Č𐠄𐠁 (= 'e-u-wa /te-o-se', ' Of Euanthes', in retrograde Cypriote syllabary] Ram recumbent to left. Rev. 𐠞 ( = pa, the initial letter of pa-si-le-wo-se, 'king', in Cypriote syllabary) Ram's head to right, with laurel branch above. BMC 38-39 var (same obverse die, but lacking the laurel branch on the reverse). SNG Copenhagen -. The late staters of Euanthes are extremely rare. Struck from a worn obverse die, otherwise, very fine.
