LUCANIA. Metapontum. Circa 340-330 BC. Nomos or Didrachm (Silver, 19.5 mm, 7.81 g, 11 h). Head of Demeter to right, wearing barley wreath, triple-pendant earring and a simple necklace, and with a light veil at the back of her head. Rev. ΜΕΤΑ Ear of barley with leaf to right; to left, above leaf, oinochoe; below, ΦI. HN III 1568. Johnston Class A, 8.2 (same dies). An attractive example, nicely toned and very elegant. Die fault on the obverse, otherwise, good very fine.
