LUCANIA. Metapontum. Circa 400-340 BC. Didrachm or nomos (Silver, plated, 20 mm, 7.22 g, 5 h). Head of Demeter to right. Rev. ΜΕTAΠO Ear of barley; to right, vine branch with grape cluster. Cf. Noe 390-419 for the obverse and 471 for the reverse. An attractive example of a contemporary plated didrachm, of excellent style and workmanship. Very fine.
