CALABRIA. Tarentum. Circa 280 BC. Nomos (Silver, 21 mm, 7.82 g, 3 h), Sa.. and Philiarchos and Aga.. magistrates. Nude ephebe, on horseback to right, placing wreath on horse's head; to upper left field [ΣA]; below, ΦΙΛIΑPΧΟΣ in two lines. Rev. TAPAΣ Phalanthos riding dolphin left, holding grape cluster with his extended right hand; below, AΓA. HN III 960. SNG ANS 1051-1054. Vlasto 674-6. Well centered on a broad flan; attractively toned. Obverse struck from a worn die, otherwise, good very fine.
