KINGS OF ARMENIA. Tigranes II, 95-56 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 15.60 g, 12 h), Tigranocerta, 80-68. Head of Tigranes II to right, wearing diademed tiara with five peaks and ornamented with an eight-pointed star between two eagles, their heads turned back towards the star; beed and reel border. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ / ΤΙΓΡΑΝΟΥ Turreted and draped Tyche of Tigranocerta seated to right on rocks, holding palm with her outstretched right hand; on rock, monogram of ΔH; at her feet to right, the river god Araxes; in the field to right, Θ; all within laurel wreath. ACV 31. CAA 19. Kovacs 74.2. SCADA Group 4. Well struck and clear; with a lovely portrait. Slightly porous surfaces as usual, otherwise, good very fine.
