KINGS OF ARMENIA. Tigranes II, 95-56 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25.5 mm, 15.72 g, 12 h), Tigranocerta, 80-68. Head of Tigranes II to right, wearing diademed tiara with five peaks and ornamented with an eight-pointed star between two eagles, their heads turned back towards the star; beed and reel border. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ / ΤΙΓΡΑΝΟΥ Turreted and draped Tyche of Tigranocerta seated to right on rocks, holding palm with her outstretched right hand; on rock, monogram of TIΓP; at her feet to right, the river god Araxes; in the field to right, monogram of ΦΩ; all within laurel wreath. ACV 34. CAA 20. Kovacs 71.2. SCADA Group 3. Well struck and clear; with a lovely portrait. Nearly extremely fine.
