CELTIC. Danube Region. Circa 1st Century BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 31 mm, 16.36 g, 12 h), a particularly late imitation of the Thasos, class V. Celticized and bearded (!) head of Dionysos to left, wearing ivy wreath; below, Λ. Rev. Garbled legend Herakles rendered as a stick figure. Lanz 996 var. Göbl OTA pl. 46 Class VB. With a particularly unusual depiction of a bearded Dionysos, a unique type in the imitation series. Toned. Good very fine.
