ATTICA, Athens. 138/7 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 32mm, 17.00 g 12), New Style, Glau... and Eche.... Head of Athena Parthenos to right, wearing triple-crested Attic helmet adorned with Pegasos. Rev. Α-ΘΕ /ΓΛ/ΑΥ -ΕΧΕ Owl standing facing on amphora; to right, draped and radiate facing bust of Helios; on amphora, Β (= 2nd month); to left of owl, ΚΓ (= contractor’s initials); all within olive wreath. Thompson 288b. A bright and attractive piece with a large and impressive head of Athena. Extremely fine.
