SICILY. Selinos. Circa 455-409 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26.5 mm, 15.91 g, 3 h). ΣΕΛΙΝΟΝΤΙΟΣ (retrograde) Apollo and Artemis standing left in a quadriga moving slowly to left, with Artemis holding the reins and Apollo drawing his bow. Rev. ΣΕΛΙΝΟΣ The river-god Selinos, horned and nude, holding laurel branch in his left hand and a phiale in his right; to left, rooster standing before a garlanded altar; to right, selinon leaf over a bull standing left on a base. Schwabacher 5 (Q1/S5). SNG ANS 668. SNG Lloyd 1224 (same dies). Toned and struck on a broad flan. Rough surfaces, marks, and with an obverse struck from a worn die, otherwise, about very fine.
