KINGS OF ARMENIA. Tigranes V, the Cappadocian, AD 6-12. Chalkous (Bronze, 13.5 mm, 1.56 g, 1 h), Artagigarta (?). Diademed, draped, and bearded bust of Tigranes to right, wearing tiara decorated with three eagles. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΤΙΓΡΑΝΟΥ ΜΕΓΑΛΟΥ (somewhat garbled) Elephant's head to left with raised trunk. ACV -. CAA -. Kovacs 186 var (retrograde inscription). Very rare, possibly unpublished with the variation in the legend orientation; with fine green patina strengthened by earthen highlights and a strong portrait. Slightly off center, otherwise, good very fine.
