Constantine IV Pogonatus, 668-685. Decanummium (Bronze, 28x18 mm, 4.99 g, 7 h), Constantinople, 668-673. Helmeted and cuirassed bust of Constantine facing, holding globus cruciger in his right hand. Rev. Large I between cross and K; in exergue, not seen here CON. DOC 38. SB 1183. Very rare. A particularly nice piece with a most attractive dark patina. Most unusual flan; overstruck on a follis of Constans II, with Constantine IV, Heraclius, and Tiberius, struck in Constantinople in 666-668, (SB 1013) see lot 898, otherwise, good very fine.
