CRETE, Gortyna. Circa 300-280/70 BC. Drachm (Silver, 19mm, 5.76 g 6). Small head of Europa to right, wearing pendant earring and pearl necklace, and with her hair bound with grain leaves. Rev. Protome of a bull to right, his head turned toward the viewer. Cf. BMC 38 and Svoronos p. 169, 93 and pl. XV, 12. A most attractive, toned example with an unusually small and well engraved head of Europa on the obverse. Usual traces of overstriking, otherwise, good very fine.
