Julius Caesar, April-August 49 BC. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 3.82 g, 2 h), mint moving with Caesar. CAESAR Elephant to right, trampling horned serpent. Rev. Priestly implements: culullus, aspergillum, axe with wolf’s head at the top and apex. Babelon (Julia) 9. Cr. 443/1. Sear 9. Sydenham 1006. Vagi 41. Lightly toned; a clear example. Struck slightly off-center on an irregular flan, otherwise, good very fine.
