KINGS OF ARMENIA. Tigranes II ‘the Great’, 95-56 BC. Tetrachalkon (Bronze, 21.5 mm, 6.80 g, 12 h), second series, Tigranokerta, c. 80-68. Diademed and draped bust of Tigranes II to right, wearing five-pointed tiara decorated with a star between two eagles. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ BAΣIΛEΩN TIΓPANOY Tyche of Tigranocerta seated right on rock, holding laurel branch in extended right hand; below, river-god Araxes swimming to right; to inner right, TP above A monogram. ACV 48. Kovacs 81. YTN 64. With a lovely dark green glossy patina and a clear portrait of Tigranes. Very fine.
