TROAS. Alexandria Troas. Crispina, Augusta, 178-182. (Bronze, 23 mm, 6.93 g, 12 h), struck under Marcus Aurelius, 178-180. CRISPINA AVGVSTA Draped bust of Crispina to right. Rev. COL AVG TROAD Shepherd with lagobolon walking to left towards cavern surmounted by the statue of Apollo Smintheus holding bow and patera. Within cavern smaller statue of Apollo Smintheus lying; behind shepherd, frightened bull running to right, with it's head turned to left. Bellinger A 240. BMC 80. RPC online 198 (this reverse die). SNG Copenhagen 132. With a most unusual reverse and with a bold and attractive portrait of Crispina. Good very fine.
