PONTOS. Amisos. Time of Mithradates VI Eupator, circa 85-65 BC. (Bronze, 25 mm, 12.87 g, 1 h). Head of Perseus to right, wearing Phrygian helmet decorated with stars. Rev. AMIΣOY Pegasos grazing left; below, monogram. HGC 7, 239. SNG BM Black Sea 1215 var (only one of the two monograms appear in the present coin). With a lovely chocolate patina and a reverse type linking the issue with the early tetradrachms of Mithradates. Very fine.
