LUCANIA. Metapontum. Circa 340-330 BC. Nomos or Didrachm (Silver, 21 mm, 7.72 g, 4 h), c. 335-330. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. META Six-grained barley ear with leaf to left; to left, above and below leaf, [Π]-P[O]. De Luynes 471. Johnston Class A, 6.1. HN III 1560. Fine late classical style; possibly the fifth example of this rare type known. Very fine.
