CILICIA. Lamos. Valerian I, 253-260. (Bronze, 24 mm, 7.78 g, 7 h). AYT K ΠO ΛI OYAΛEPIANO Radiate and draped bust of Valerian to right. Rev. ΛAM MHTP THC ΛAMω Apollo standing left, nude but for cloak over shoulder, holding arrow and bow. Levante, Lamos 3c. SNG Levante 482. Very rare; finer than the piece in the Levante collection. Struck from dies engraved in a crude, local, style, otherwise, very fine.



The reverse inscription is quite unusual in the information it provides us: it tells us that the coin was struck by the city of Lamos, the metropolis of the district of Lamotidia, a small area within Cilicia.
