MYSIA. Lampsacus. Augustus, 27 BC-AD 14. 1/3 Assarion (Bronze, 17.5 mm, 2.12 g, 12 h). CEBACTOY Laureate head of Augustus (?) to right. Rev. Ithyphallic Priapos standing left; ΛΑΜΨΑΚ across the fields. BMC 79. RPC I 2274. SNG France 1267. Scarce. Fine details on portrait. Nearly very fine.



The extra metal at 5h is the remains of the shaft produced during the molding of the flans, prior to striking. They were usually removed manually, but in some rare occasions, as this one, they were accidentally kept, possibly due to intense minting activity.
