BITHYNIA. Nicaea. Antoninus Pius, 138-161. (Bronze, 25 mm, 8.85 g, 7 h). ΑVΤ ΚΑΙСΑΡ ΑΝΤΩΝΙΝOС Bare head of Antoninus Pius to right. Rev. ΝΕΙΚΑΙΕΩΝ Athena standing to right, holding owl and spear. Apparently unpublished, but cf. RPC IV temp. 5870 (but with Athena to left on the reverse). A particularly rare type. Well struck from beautifully engraved dies, clear and with a green-brown patina. Very fine.
