Muntoni 13. Extremely rare. Very nicely toned and with a splendid portrait. About extremely fine.

From a Swiss collection.

This, along with its more common accompanying grossi, is part of the first series of papal coins to bear a real portrait of a reigning pope; it, thus, stands at the very beginning of all papal portrait coinage. The inscriptions commemorate Sixtus IV’s efforts to restore the city of Rome, among which was, of course, the Sixtine Chapel.
