Severus Alexander, 222-235. Sestertius (Orichalcum, 28mm, 17.70 g 1), Rome, 232. IMP ALEXANDER PIVS AVG Laureate head of Severus Alexander to right, with slight drapery on his left shoulder. Rev. PROVIDENTIA AVG / S - C Providentia standing left, holding grain ears over modius in her right hand and cornucopiae with her left. Banti 147. BMC 881. Cohen 503. RIC 642. A most attractive example with a malachite-green patina and minor sand deposits as found. Struck on a slightly short flan, otherwise, extremely fine.
