Philippopolis, Thrace. Caracalla, 198-217. Tetrassarion (Bronze, 28mm, 16.97 g 7), 212-215. AΥT K M AΥΡH ANTΩNINOC Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Caracalla to left, holding a spear in his right hand and a shield bearing a head of the Medusa over his left shoulder. Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠ-ΠΟ[Π]ΟΛΕΙΤΩΝ Nike, with open wings, standing to left, holding wreath in her right hand and palm frond with her left. Varbanov - (but cf. 1639 and 1640, this reverse type struck under Geta). A pleasant example with a nice green patina. About extremely fine.
