Philippopolis, Thrace. Antoninus Pius, 138-161. Tetrassarion (Bronze, 30mm, 21.22 g 1). ΑΥΤ ΑΙ ΑΔΡΙΑ ΑΝΤΩΝΕΙΝΟC Bare-headed and draped bust of Antoninus Pius to right. Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΠΟΛΕΙΤΩΝ On left, the river-god Hebrus reclining to right, holding long water plant and with water below; before him to right, the Tyche of Philippopolis standing left, turreted and draped, holding out a patera in her right hand and holding a long scepter with her left. Varbarov - (but cf. 754, for the same reverse type but with a differing obverse). With a dark patina, a fine portrait and an elegant reverse. Good very fine.
