Antoninus Pius, 138-161. Sestertius (Orichalcum, 29mm, 25.83 g 12), 140-143/4. ANTONINVS AVG PIVS P P TR P COS III Laureate head of Antoninus Pius to right, with very light drapery on his left shoulder. Rev. FELI-CI-TAS AVG / S - C Felicitas standing facing, her head turned to left, holding capricorn in her right hand and long winged caduceus in her left. Banti 152 (but misdescribed as having COS IIII on the obverse). BMC -, but cf. 1332 (As). Cohen -, but cf. 362 (As). RIC -, but cf. 680 (As). A rare and usually misdescribed variant. A very attractive coin with a glossy dark olive-green patina. Extremely fine.
