Hammer Price:  200 CHF
Lot 82

KINGS OF MACEDON. Demetrios I Poliorketes, 306-283 BC. Chalkous (Bronze, 14 mm, 2.12 g, 6 h), uncertain mint in Asia Minor, perhaps Tarsos (?), circa 301-295. Nike on prow of galley to left, blowing a trumpet. Rev. BA ΔΙ Poseidon Pelagaios throwing trident left; to left, obscure monogram. HGC 3, 1031. Newell 62 var. Extremely rare type, apparently unrecorded with this monogram, and without any doubt the best example ever offered on the market. With an attractive dark brown tone. Nearly extremely fine.
