KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 25 mm, 16.99 g, 9 h), struck during the reign of Philip III by the Regent Antipater, "Amphipolis" uncertain mint in Macedonia, c. 323-320. Head of youthful Herakles in lion's skin headdress to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated to left on throne, holding eagle on his outstretched right hand and long scepter in his left; in field to left, antler. Price 111. Troxell, studies, issue H1. A well centered tetradrachm with some underlying golden luster. Good fine.
