GREECE. Otho, 1832-1862. 1o lepta 1838/7 (Copper, 28 mm, 12.88 g, 12 h), the variety with 38 over 37, Athens, struck from dies by K. Lange, reeded edge. BΑΣΙΛΕΙΑ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ Crowned shield bearing the coat of arms of Greece with the Wittelsbach arms at the center. Rev. 10 ΛΕΠΤΑ 1838/7 Denomination and date in three lines within a laurel wreath tied above and below. Divo 18d var. (variation unrecorded). Karamitsos 75b. KM 17. Minor die break and metal fault on the reverse. Graded by NGC "MS 61 BN". Cert number: 2908890-014.

BAKTRIA, Local issues. Uncertain mint. 4th century BC. (Silver, 9 mm, 0.71 g, 4 h). Forepart of boar running to right. Rev. Stylized head of a lion to right; within square incuse. BMC -. SNG Copenhagen -. Klein -. HGC -. Seemingly an unpublished type, save for its auction appearances: Roma Numismatics 60E, 2019, 397 (differing dies) and Naumann 90, 2020, 27 (this coin). An intriguing local issue, apparently from Baktria,and in need of further academic research (anyone wishing a grant to do so should contact our academic coordinator, J. Stelzhammer, for further information and regulations). Minor marks, otherwise, good very fine.
