BΑΣΙΛΕΙA ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ Crowned shield bearing the coat of arms of Greece with the Wittelsbach arms at the center. Rev. 5 ΛΕΠΤΑ 1838 Denomination and date in three lines within a laurel wreath tied above and below. Divo 21e. Karamitsos 59. KM 16. Die fault on the reverse. Graded by NGC "XF details / rim damage". LUCANIA. Metapontum. Circa 330-290 BC. Nomos (Silver, 19 mm, 7.31 g, 8 h). Head of Demeter to right, wearing wreath of barley ears and triple-pendant earring; below chin, ΔΑΙ. Rev. META Ear of barley, with leaf to right; above leaf, plough to right; below leaf, ΜΑΧ. HN III 1581. Johnston Class C, 1.66. Struck from a slightly worn obverse die, otherwise, very fine.
