ΒΑΣΙΛΕΥΣ ΤΩΝ ΕΛΛΗΝΩΝ / A 1876 Mature head of George I to left; below truncation, in tiny letters, BAPPE. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΙΟΝ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ Crowned and mantled coat of arms of the Kingdom of Greece; below, 5 ΔΡΑΧΜΑΙ flanked by the privy marks bee (for the Mint Director, Renouard de Bussière, 1860-1879), on the left, and an anchor (for the Engraver General, A. THRACE. Maroneia. Circa 189/8-49/5 BC. (Bronze, 26.5 mm, 15.98 g, 12 h). Head of youthful Dionysos to right, wearing ivy wreath. Rev. ΔΙΟΝVΣΟV / ΣΩΤΗΡΟΣ / ΜΑΡΩΝΙΤΩΝ Dionysos, nude but for chlamys draped over his left arm, standing left, holding grape bunch in right hand, two narthex stalks in his left; flanking his feet, two monograms. HGC 3.2, 1557. Schönert-Geiss 1415 (V25/R54). Dark green patina. Light porosity, otherwise, very fine.
